Overview

An intuitive self stabilizing four rotor flying helicopter for the beginner R/C hobbyist market.

The Challenge

No market had been identified, there was no preexisting technology for our team to use, and lastly, the project did not have a financial case established.

The Solution

Our team used interviews, surveys, and focus groups to identify and better understand our ideal customers. When we found them, we learned what they wanted and set out to build it. At the end of the project we had a fully working prototype that was passed on to the next development team. Work continued on the project for a while but is now on hold.

My Contributions

• Researched market segments
• Gathered voice of customer (VOC)
• Administered interviews, surveys, and focus groups
• Developed pro forma financial model
• Designed and fabricated the craft’s frame
• Performed vibration analysis on frame and motors
• Conducted motor and propeller thrust testing
